Animated Comedy They're back!!! If you want to take the kids out to a movie that you can enjoy then TOY STORY 2 is for you. The story is excellent, Pixar's animation is fantastic and the music is great. This is an overall no lose package. The story rides high on the idea that friendships are the most important thing to have. Don't think you'll be preached to, because you won't, but, you will see a film with lots of fun and excitement. TOY STORY 2 continues the adventures of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the entire gang of Andy's toybox. When Andy goes off to summer cowboy cam a damaged Woody is left behind with the rest of the toys. When Woody is accidently put in a garage sale he is stolen by an evil toy collector, who realizes what Woody really is. Woody it seems is a highly valued collectable toy. The other toys, led by his good buddy, Buzz Lightyear, head off on a dangerous journey to find and rescue their little cowboy friend. If you were a toy you would appreciate how dangerous this trek would be. Crossing a busy intersection can be a dangerous thing as you will see during what turns out to be a rather funny and scary scene. Al of Al's Toy Barn, the thief, is an avid toy collector who stands to make a fortune by selling Woody and the entire cast of WOODY'S ROUNDUP to a Japanese Toy Museum. Yes it seems that Woody had a television show called WOODY'S ROUNDUP. It was a western puppet show starring Woody, his gal Jesse, Stinky Pete, the prospector and his horse Bullseye. It was very popular and successful but the toys from the show were very rare and now Al has all he needs and intends to ship everything to Japan. The rescue attempt is messed up by another Buzz Lightyear toy who believes he is a real space ranger who must destroy ZURG, the evil entity out to kill Buzz. Of course this identity confusion leads to many misadventures as they try to rescue Woody and try to stay out of Zurg's clutches, who of course, is trying to kill Buzz. Expect lots of fun and adventures as well as lots of surprises. You are going to love watching this film and as an added bonus the film starts with a short. This short is the original LUXOR JR. cartoon that first introduced Pixar's computer animation skills to the world. I remember showing this short at an Animation Festival held in my town. Actually I was one of the projectionists who showed this short. I was told by one of the producers of Luxor Jr. that they actually had to rough up the animation because people could not believe it was animated. If you have never seen it, you now have a chance to view a bit of computer animation history. Enjoy!! Oh yeah, don't forget the popcorn. |
