"James Isaac Neutron, How many times have we told you not to launch off the roof."
Yes JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY GENIUS is a perfect film for a Christmas season release but it is a good film that you can take
the entire family to see at any time of the year. Little Jimmy is a young prepubescent 10 year old Einstien with a vewry big brain housed in
a very large head. All too often he is a bit too big for his britches and of course this leads him to get into trouble. In this feature film episode
he starts a series of events that will lead to the kidnapping of all the parents in his hometown.
"In time of crisis, intellectuals are the first to go."
Yes Jimmy Neutron decided to turn his family toaster into a satellite that sends out welcome messages into the universe. Unfortunately
for him some nefarious alien race hears the messages and come to investigate. This race of aliens called Yokians is an in joke of which
comes first the chicken or the egg. They all look like like green bugged eyed yolks encased in a glass and metallic egg and they travel
around in space in starships that look like giant metallic chickens. They even worship the giant chicken god called Poultra, God Of
Wrath. Of course the aliens, lead by King Goobot (Patrick Stewart), hatch their evil plot (I just had to say that) and during the
night they kidnap all the towns parents. Is this bad?
"Wouldn't it be great if all our parents disappeared for a while?"
Well not at first. The children, believing all their parents went on vacation, go wild. They play all day long at everything they are not
supposed to. They eat everything bad for them until they get sick, tired and hurt. Of course this is when they start to miss their parents. They
begin to miss their parents which leads Jimmy to investigate and after accessing Goddard's video of his parents he see's what has really
happened. Goddard, oh that's Jimmy's obedient robot dog whose main trick is to blow up and then put himself back together.
"I do so relish these times of peril."
The children decide that they have to rescue their parents from the evil invaders. Using Jimmy's genius they build all sorts of space vehicles
out of anything they can find. They even turn a ferris wheel into a spaceship. After a faulty start the amusement park armada heads into space;
their mission, rescue their parents. Even my neices wondered how these little people could survive in space without space suits or
enclosed space ships. Hey it's a cartoon movie anything goes. After encountering a meteor shower they stop off for a camp out on an
asteriod where true to child form they proceed to start trying to scare each other by telling scary campout stories.
"Let's go Neutron, it's egg scrambling time."
Eventually they reach the the planet and there they meet all sorts of perils as they try to rescue their brainwashed parents from the evil
green eggs. No there's no ham around. With the help of Goddard and all his friends, Jimmy works on scrambling a few eggs while trying to
escape the giant god Poultra. The battle is definitely imaginative and entertaining without frightening any young children.
"Nobody eats my parents unless I say so."
The entire audience loved watching JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY GENIUS. The children laughed out loud and you can tell they were
having a great time. The adults were not fidgetting so I know they all enjoyed it and you will as well. Obviously the children in the movie
help teach our children some lessons about co-operation with others and that nothing replaces the love of good and kind parents.
"You look marvellous sunnyside up, your majesty."
The animation was developed by John Davis the chief animator of DNA Productions. This hearty little band os 25 animators had to
increase to 150 to be able to finish this film on time for Christmas release. They are extremely proud that they were able to produce this
film using off the shelf technology that can be purchased at most computer stores. This is rather appropriate considering that the movie is
about a boy genius that can take anything laying around and turn it into some crazy new invention. Jimmy Neutron is the creation of Davis
and screenwriter and director Steve Oedekerk (who wrote The Nutty Professor and cowrote and directed Ace Ventura: When Nature
Calls).
"Having a genius for a son may not be easy but it's fun."
Well the nieces and me can wholeheartedly recommend this fun film for all of you. It is definitely an excellent popcorn movie, and in my
nieces case a nacho and cheese movie. Boy she can really put those little round corn chips away. Lauren wants you to know that is a good
family movie that teaches you to love your parents. Lindsay says it was a really fun movie and she liked the teacher scenes. To see why she
liked the teacher scenes go see the movie because I am not telling you what that was about. Oh yes stick around during the credits for
extra scenes that are important. Oh, I didn't like the kid rap song at the end. My opinion of course. Well gotta go it's time to sit down to a
plate of eggs, white ones.
