Look out Mrs. Doubtfire, here comes Big Momma

A brutal bank robber escapes jail and heads to his ex-girlfriend to get his money from a bank robbery. Laster played by Terrence Dashon Howard finds her gone. He searches for her and the search will lead him into a collision with Malcolm Turner played by the lead Martin Lawrence. Malcom and his partner John (Paul Giamatti) go to warn Sherry, the gorgeous Nia Long of Laster's escape and try to get her to admit that she was in on the robbery. Sherry and her young son, Trent (Jascha Washington) are gone.

Malcolm is a tough, smart FBI agent who also happens to be a master of disguise but now his latest assignment takes him to a small southern town where he hopes to catch Laster and Sherry. This takes him to BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE. Big Momma (Ella Mitchell) has to leave to take care of a family member. This gives Malcolm a chance to disguise himself as Big Momma and prepare for Sherry's arrival.

The makeup that Martin Lawrence wears is excellent and he acts the part very well and is quite humour. He gets involved in cooking, church singing and even delivering babies. During all this time he tries to get Sherry to acknowledge her complicity in the roberry commited by Laster. Unfortunately for Malcolm he falls in love with Sherry and her son. Does love win out, do the bad guys get caught and where is the money anyway? Go see the movie to find out.

This film has no complicated plot but it has lots of good hearty laughs for everyone. The film is basically a story consisting of humourous situations that Lawrence gets into while in disguise. It is also a story with heart and romance that almost ends in disaster. This film will do well in the theatres but it will do smash business in the video circuit as well. This is definitely a popcorn munching movie and if you can afford to buy the drinks try not to spit out on the guy in front of you if you suddenly break out laughing, alright.

"Oh happy day here comes Big Momma."
